Find out how your state legislators voted on animal protection bills on NCVAW's easy to read scorecard

This is a list of animal bills that have received votes in either the House and/or Senate from 2009 until today and is cumulative over the years and not based on a single year's voting record. Please note the years where there were no animal welfare bills at all. It's not that there were no animal welfare bills that could have been voted on, but that sponsors could not be found for the bills.

The Report Card is updated after every animal welfare bill receives a vote, as votes on bills are recorded or as a Legislator makes a statement regarding animal welfare, sponsors a bill for animal welfare, etc.

Our grades are not based solely on votes. We have included the Primary Sponsor and Secondary Sponsors, so you can tell if your legislator made a firm commitment to protect animals and support the legislation. We think you’ll find it easy to tell who are NC's leading humane legislators.

There are hundreds of North Carolinian's working tirelessly in the rescue communities and animal advocacy communities who should see how their legislators voted, so please forward this along to your friends and family.

Encourage them to support NCVAW as we work to change the political landscape to better protect animals in North Carolina. It is important for every voter in NC to know how their legislator has voted on animal protection bills in order to make informed decisions during elections.

The NCVAW Report Card will be used when considering endorsements for legislators who are running for re-election.

Please also share this link with your legislator to let them know you are watching and either appreciate their score or want them to do better.
